Blue Water Yacht Brokerage.
We help skippers and families find, evaluate and buy cruising yachts built for ocean passages. From the first search to the final handover, we act as a buyer advocate: defining the brief, filtering the market, inspecting shortlisted yachts, coordinating surveys, negotiating terms and arranging delivery.
The right yacht for oceans, not marinas.
What's actually happening.
Buying a yacht for ocean passages is not like buying a coastal weekender. The market is fragmented across brokers, shipyards and private sellers. Listings hide maintenance histories. A polished interior says almost nothing about whether the hull, rig, engine and electrical systems are ready for weeks at sea. Most buyers discover too late that they bought someone else's compromise, and that the real refit bill starts after the purchase.
The service, precisely.
We help skippers and families find, evaluate and buy cruising yachts built for ocean passages. From the first search to the final handover, we act as a buyer advocate: defining the brief, filtering the market, inspecting shortlisted yachts, coordinating surveys, negotiating terms and arranging delivery.
We start with the mission, not the marina. Bluewater cruising means different things to different crews: tradewind routes, high latitude sailing, short handed passages or family circumnavigations. Each requirement changes the shortlist. Hull form, tankage, rig, sail plan, redundancy, layout and budget all pull in different directions. We help owners define what matters before they start looking, so the search has a filter instead of a wishlist.
Search is where most buyers lose time. We maintain a live view of the market: broker networks, shipyards, refit yards and private sales across Europe, the Americas and the South Pacific. We prequalify every candidate against the brief, the budget and the intended route. If a yacht is wrong for the ocean you have in mind, it does not make the list.
Inspection is where the real work happens. Our team combines delivery miles with technical survey knowledge, so we read a yacht the way someone about to lose sight of land reads it. Chainplates, rudder bearings, engine access, tankage, electrical architecture, standing rigging, seacocks, tabbing and the thousand small details that separate a coastal boat from an ocean boat.
Surveys and sea trials are coordinated end to end. We arrange haul out, engine diagnostics, rig inspection and sail inventory checks. We sit in on the sea trial and the survey readout, ask the questions a buyer may not know to ask, and translate the findings into a clear picture of what is ready, what needs attention and what should change the price.
Negotiation and purchase are handled without theatre. We coordinate documentation, flagging, VAT and duty questions, and closing. If the yacht needs to be moved, Compass Yacht Deliveries takes over the passage. If it needs work before departure, we connect the owner to the right refit yard and stay involved until the yacht is ready.
The result is a yacht you can trust when the nearest land is a thousand miles behind you. Not a brochure. Not a compromise. A boat that matches the ocean you actually intend to sail.
